The property currently houses a renovated redwood cabin from the 1880’s, a small guest cottage, and acres of planted gardens. All the wood from the home was milled from my sister's property, we used sheep's wool insulation, repurposed tiles from Heath Ceramics headed for the landfill, and scavenged all of the windows and foors from&nbsp; architectural salvages across California. The house is also plumbed for greywater irrigation and has 20,000 gallons of rainwater storage. During the COVID pandemic I became increasingly inspired to continue my work as a physician for what I hope will be a career that lasts a lifetime, but also recognized that I needed a space to cultivate the compassion, empathy and love I want to give each and every one of my patients. My life outside of medicine has generally been centered around gardening and spending time in the ocean, so when I began thinking of some resource or project that could balance my work, I looked toward cultivating a piece of the California coastline in parallel to my career in medicine.
